July 12th, 2008 (Postcard) - Last night's sweatsoaked rock party at Tasty World in Athens, Ga with Lauderdale and the Holy Liars was another unforgettable trip to the Classic City, a sleepy town that we, at least in part, feel is home.  An enthusiastic crowd, some lifetime friends and family, and some very special company from the music world.  We played some new material and my cell phone has been ringing all day with an abundance of positive feedback.  We're excited about going back into the studio this week at the Star Motel.  Athens, and I'm speaking to that guy whose been stuck in an elevator for the best part of his life, is a pretty  special place.  Youth and promise and a heart that sings upwards to the summer moon.  I can't wait for another homecoming and hopefully a longer stay in the town that assured artists all over the world that you can do anything all by yourself.  Next trip, Justin hits the flea markets, Josh sleeps in, we have a late evening at the Manhattan telling lies to our old friend Dave,  and then a Sunday brunch at the Last Resort.  Friday night, my instrument was a sponge. Get in the water, y'all.  It's hot in Georgia.  Enjoy the summer, remember baseball is played slow for a reason, and try to make somebody smile.  It really is good to be alive.  I'm gonna take my daughter swimming now.  See ya soon.
