11-26-08: HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!! So... I know I said last time that we would have some songs from the new album up but I'm a liar. Actually, we have been on a mean writing streak lately and just haven't had the time to mix any of the new stuff well enough to post on the page. NEW SONGS ARE COMING!! Meanwhile, Trendlenberg has been recording his new e.p. in the Star Motel studios and everyone is super excited about that. Local favorites, Nomenclature, have returned from a stint on the road and we are all happy to have them back home. Everyone should check these guys out. Alot of good things happening in our small town. Well, that's about all I've got right now. Really want to wish everyone a happy holiday season and remind everyone to be careful... DUI's suck! ![]() ![]() J10-15-08>>> Well, the new record is coming to fruition quite nicely and we have a pretty good gig this coming weekend. We wil be playing October 18th at the Grand Opera House here in Macon with Augustana. Man, those guys are skinny. I imagine it will look like an L.A. weight loss "Before and After" add when we finsh and they take the stage. The Opera House is a really amazing and, from what I hear, haunted as a son of a bitch. cool. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here or at the door. Anyway, we should have some rough cuts of new album material on the site soon so stay tuned! Also, make sure to stop by the messeage board and let us know what you like/love/hate about us! Take it easy and we hope to see you Saturday! Justin![]() p.s. Is anyone else disgusted by McDonalds using Os Mutantes songs in their new add campaign? Let's Discuss! Oh my gosh. we're opening for Dead Confederate next week and I really like those guys alot. One of those bands that glues your eyes to the stage and ears to the speakers. can't wait. To be honest, we haven't practiced in a couple weeks but I'm not sweating it. Would really like to have a couple more songs by then but we'll see how it goes. Rob just got back from the ACL festival and has been recording fellow Maconites "The Red Swill." Good things are happening in the Star Motel recording studio. Josh is buying new drum gear... Thank fuckin Jesus. Chad is well buts needs a vacation. Anyway, Try to at least make it to see Dead Conferderate on Sept.18th at the Hummingbird in Macon. We will be there. Peace>>>justin Crap... Sorry for the delay and thanks for all the support!!! July 27, 2008 (Postcard) - Bragg Jam was a huge success for the organization and for Macon, the most amazing festival yet, and, of course, another chance to reflect on the friendship Hank Vegas had and still mantains with the wonderful Bragg Family. Many thanks to the sponsors and to our fans, who packed the place out and shared a great evening of music and community. I was overwhelmed last night with pride after seeing all our good friends and family, their charity and sense of goodwill and the enthusiasm for our work, and that some power in the universe has allowed me to be a small part of something so beautiful. Brax and Taylor, forever in our thoughts. Be good y'all, I'm signing off. - Chad SEE YOU @ BRAGG JAM July 26th 8pm w/Jason Isbell, Abby Owens, Nomenclature, and more we play the hummingbird 430 Cherry St. Macon, Ga 31201 July 12th, 2008 (Postcard) - Last night's sweatsoaked rock party at Tasty World in Athens, Ga with Lauderdale and the Holy Liars was another unforgettable trip to the Classic City, a sleepy town that we, at least in part, feel is home. An enthusiastic crowd, some lifetime friends and family, and some very special company from the music world. We played some new material and my cell phone has been ringing all day with an abundance of positive feedback. We're excited about going back into the studio this week at the Star Motel. Athens, and I'm speaking to that guy whose been stuck in an elevator for the best part of his life, is a pretty special place. Youth and promise and a heart that sings upwards to the summer moon. I can't wait for another homecoming and hopefully a longer stay in the town that assured artists all over the world that you can do anything all by yourself. Next trip, Justin hits the flea markets, Josh sleeps in, we have a late evening at the Manhattan telling lies to our old friend Dave, and then a Sunday brunch at the Last Resort. Friday night, my instrument was a sponge. Get in the water, y'all. It's hot in Georgia. Enjoy the summer, remember baseball is played slow for a reason, and try to make somebody smile. It really is good to be alive. I'm gonna take my daughter swimming now. See ya soon.

Macon's Hank Vegas serve up some gruff'n'gritty country rock on their new CD The Things You Are, but certain cuts approach the effect of R.E.M.'s latter-day dream pop. The Athens vets(REM) were recording in an adjacent studio at Chase Park Transduction at the same time as Hank Vegas were tracking their disc with Producer and guest player David Barbe, and the Vibrations and inspirations seen to have seeped through the walls. -Jeff Clark Stomp and Stammer Sept.07 "Macon has long been the breeding ground for a wide selection of earthy, timeless art -- and a bunch of bad blues bands. Whether or not the Hank Vegas catalog will remain a beloved staple of music history remains to be seen; for now, Chad Evans and company are riding a Central Georgia buzz of interest with a rootsy new album and strong ties to the legendary breeding ground of the Allman Brothers and the decidedly more progressive environs of Athens." -Creative Loafing "...a near-perfect record" -The Macon Telegraph "...of the latest crop of musicians pushing themselves out of the Allman Brothers' shadow, Hank Vegas may be making the most unique music yet." -The 11th Hour NEWS from STAR MOTEL RECORDS
